CAPITAL APPRECIATION ACCOUNT
Following is a summary of information about the Sentry Capital Appreciation Account. Investors are advised to learn key data about an investment prior to making any investment decision.
Objective
The objective of this account is to seek long-term growth. It is invested solely in the Sentry Capital Appreciation Portfolio.
Investor Profile
The Capital Appreciation Account may be suitable for investors with a very long-term investment horizon who are pursuing capital appreciation primarily through investing in U.S. companies that are small and in the early stages of their growth as well as medium and large corporations using a value approach. Individuals must be willing and able to accept substantial change in unit price in the short, long and very long term.
Investment Strategy
The Capital Appreciation Portfolio utilizes an in-depth security analysis to find companies characterized by growth of sales and earnings at a rate higher than the overall economy. In addition, exchange traded funds (ETFs) may be purchased to provide the portfolio with cost effective exposure to appropriate segments of the U.S. equity market. The portfolio seeks to own these securities until they are significantly overpriced, or there is a negative change in the growth rate for the company. Dividend income is incidental.
Investment Considerations
The Capital Appreciation Account primarily invests in companies that are small and in the early stages of their growth. Performance of small company stock is typically more volatile than the stock of larger, more mature companies. Investors may find the account suitable as a single investment option or to increase diversification, may choose to use it in combination with other investment options.
