The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services issued a ruling on Thursday, July 13, 2014 which finalized the October 1, 2015 date as the compliance date for health care providers, health plans, and health care clearinghouses to transition to ICD-10, the tenth revision of the International Classification of Diseases.

Medical bills could be returned if the date of service is on or after October 1, 2015 and not billed in accordance with Workers Compensation State Regulations and CMS’s final ruling dated July 13, 2014.
