STEVENS POINT, Wis. (May 29, 2025) – Sentry Insurance has been named by Forbes as one of America’s Best Employers for New Grads in 2025. This national ranking places Sentry among the top 500 companies creating exceptional early-career opportunities, selected from a pool of more than 3 million U.S. organizations.
“This recognition reflects what we strive for every day—providing a workplace where employees feel seen, supported, and positioned for success,” said Michael Cloud, Sentry Chief Human Resource Officer. “We don’t just hire early-career professionals—we invest in them and support their growth into meaningful, long-term careers.”
Sentry offers a multi-tiered talent pipeline that begins with early learning opportunities and continues through structured internships and partnerships:
Youth Apprenticeship and Upward Bound programs
Designed to introduce high school students to career pathways through hands-on experience. Sentry recently opened a dedicated Apprenticeship Office near its home office to further invest in workforce development.
Internships
Sentry’s internship program provides learning experiences in specific departments and professional development opportunities for interns. The 12-week program immerses interns into Sentry’s culture and leads to most students staying with the company after they graduate.
Co-Op and Capstone programs
Sentry’s Co-Op and Capstone programs give real-world learning opportunities to students throughout their college experiences. These programs help innovate in modern technology capabilities and support business needs.
University partnerships
Sentry supports professional development by engaging with student organizations like Women in Business, Accounting Club, Latino Student Alliance, Investment Club, and the Hmong and Southeast Asian American Club. These partnerships provide mentorship and applied learning experiences.
“From day one, I felt like a valued part of the team. I wasn’t just observing—I was contributing to real projects that helped me grow both professionally and personally,” said Trent Waltenberg, former Sentry intern and current full-time employee. “Sentry has been a great place to build my skills, and I’m excited to take on new challenges as I continue my career here.”
Sentry’s inclusion on this year’s list follows additional workplace honors including recognition on Newsweek’s America’s Greatest Workplaces for Women and Forbes Best Midsize Employer.
In partnership with Statista, the list is based on an independent survey of over 100,000 professionals with less than 10 years of experience. Eligible companies have at least 1,000 employees. The final score is based on two types of evaluations: personal (those given by employees themselves) and public (those given by friends and family members of employees, or members of the public who work in the same industry) with higher weighting for personal evaluations.
Respondents rated their employers on atmosphere and development, image, salary/wage, workplace, diversity, and working conditions. Scores also reflected public perception shared by peers and colleagues within the same industry.
