Sentry Privacy Policy

At the Sentry Insurance Company and our subsidiary and affiliated companies (collectively, “Sentry,” “we,” “us,” and “our”), we value your privacy and are committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of your personal information. Sentry has adopted this Privacy Policy (" Privacy Policy") to describe Sentry's current data collection and disclosure policies and practices.

Sentry offers and administers a variety of insurance and/or financial products and services, including annuity, life, and property and casualty insurance products and services, and retirement savings plans. Depending on your relationship with us—policyholder, insured, claimant, annuity owner, certificate owner, beneficiary, producer (e.g., broker and agent), business partner, vendor, employee, or other person or entity—Sentry may collect or receive information that is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked directly or indirectly with, a particular individual or household (“personal information”).

Protecting your personal information is important to us. Here’s how we handle your personal information.

Information we collect

We have collected some or all of the below categories of personal information from individuals within the last 12 months. Please note that the examples are not an exhaustive list.

Internet or network activity

Browser history, search history, interactions with our website, apps and advertisements, social media account information, social media usage.

Telematics data

Miles driven, driving habits and vehicle use including geolocation, speed, acceleration, braking and cornering combined with weather, traffic, time of day and other contextual data with your consent.

Audiovisual information

Audio of your contact with Sentry in the form of a recorded statement or phone call, or visual information on our security cameras.

Consumer information

Credit history, credit score, insurance score, driving records, claims history, or other similar information reflecting on character, general reputation, personal characteristics or mode of living that is furnished by consumer reporting agencies.

Biometric information

Genetic, physiological, behavioral, and biological characteristics, or activity patterns used to extract a template or other identifier or identifying information, such as fingerprints, faceprints, and voiceprints, iris or retina scans, keystroke, gait, or other physical patterns, and sleep, health, or exercise data.

Professional or
employment-related information

Employment applications, resumés, work history, applicant assessment information, or performance evaluation information; driving record or driving history.

Non-public education information

Education records directly related to a student maintained by an educational institution or party acting on its behalf, such as grades, transcripts, class lists, student schedules, student identification codes, student financial information, or student disciplinary records.

Sensitive personal information

Social Security ‎number or other government identifier; ‎account login information or a financial ‎account number with associated credentials; ‎precise geolocation; contents of mail, email, or ‎text messages; or genetic information. Or any ‎of the following: the processing of biometric ‎information to uniquely identify a consumer; ‎collection and analysis of information that ‎concerns a consumer’s health information; ‎collection and analysis of information that ‎concerns a consumer’s sexual orientation or ‎sex life.

For example, we may get information from service providers, sanctions screening providers, credit reporting agencies, consumer reporting agencies, account verification services, customer due diligence providers, individuals or companies involved with obtaining coverages or processing your claim (e.g., appraisers, adjustors, claims handlers), other insurance companies, or reinsurers.

How we use your personal information

To meet our legal and regulatory obligations, or otherwise as allowed or required by law, Sentry may disclose personal information to third parties such as federal, state, and local regulatory authorities; tax authorities; law enforcement; judicial bodies; or other persons or entities in response to a legal process (such as a subpoena).

Authorized representatives and successors in Interest

Sentry may disclose personal information to your agent, representative, attorney-in-fact, or guardian; if an interest in the annuity contract, life insurance policy, or property and casualty insurance policy is transferred or assigned, or otherwise passes to a new owner, assignee, or other successor, Sentry may disclose personal information to that successor to the extent needed to confirm the successor’s interest; after your death, Sentry may disclose personal information to your executor, administrator, or personal representative; your beneficiary; or other legally authorized successor to your interest in the annuity contract, life insurance policy, or property and casualty insurance policy.

Marketing firms

Sentry may disclose your personal information to third-party marketing vendors in connection with marketing efforts, which may include the production and use of online identifiers to deliver relevant ads to you and others across various websites and applications.

Sentry does not sell your personal information and has not sold your personal information in the last 12 months.

We impose contractual obligations on service providers and contractors to ensure they can only use your personal information for appropriate purposes.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

We and our service providers may use AI with your personal information, from the Sources described herein, to operate and improve our business, products, and services, and to improve the performance of our websites and applications. Such AI use may vary depending on the product or service or your relationship with us.

Session Replay Technology:

Session Replay Technology is an analytics tool that records user interactions on our site to help us understand how individuals interact with our site and enhance user experience. It also helps us identify and troubleshoot technical errors that occur. Session Replay Technology captures user experience data such as clicks, scrolls, mouse movements, page views, and visit duration. Personally Identifiable Information that you enter into webforms on our site is masked and not recorded through this technology, keeping your data anonymized and used for analysis only.

Our website uses Display Advertising. Display Advertising includes features such as remarketing, interest category advertising, similar audience advertising, and other types of interest-based advertising. Third-party vendors, including Google, show sentry.com ads on websites across the Internet.

Our website and third-party vendors, including Google, use first-party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookie) and third-party cookies (such as the Double-click cookie) together to inform, optimize, and serve ads based on past visits to our website. Visitors can opt-out of Google Analytics for Display Advertising and customize Google Display Network ads using the Ads Preferences Manager.

Individuals who violate our policies are subject to disciplinary actions.

Organizations that provide services involving personal information on behalf of Sentry are contractually required to protect your personal information.

To determine the appropriate retention period for personal data, we consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the data, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of your personal data, the purposes for which the data was collected, and the applicable legal requirements.

When you access our website through any other websites or linked web pages, your personal information may be disclosed to and become the property of both Sentry and the other website owner. Our website may also contain links to other websites. Sentry is not responsible for the privacy policies or practices, or the content of websites not owned by Sentry that may link to or may be linked from this website. Children’s privacy

We do not do business with children. We do not authorize persons less than 16 years of age to use our website or independently purchase our products or services. While we may collect information of individuals less than 16 years of age for purposes of providing products or services (e.g., claims administration), we do not sell or share the personal information of those who we know are under 16 years of age without affirmative authorization.‎

Consent

By using or interacting with this website and or Sentry, you consent to this Privacy Policy. If you do not consent to this Privacy Policy, please refrain from use or interaction with this website and Sentry. If you access this website from a location other than the United States, your use of this website constitutes consent to the transfer of your information to the United States.

Privacy Policy changes

Sentry reserves the right to change the Privacy Policy at any time. Privacy Addendum for California residents

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provides you with specific rights regarding your personal information. This section describes your CCPA rights and explains how to exercise those rights.

The right to know and access your information: You have the right to request that Sentry disclose certain descriptions and categories of the personal information we collect, use, share, disclose, and sell about you. Once we receive and confirm your verifiable consumer request, we will disclose to you:

  • The categories of personal information we collected about you

  • The categories of sources from which the personal information was collected

  • Our business or commercial purpose for collecting or sharing the personal information

  • The categories of third parties to whom we disclosed the personal information

  • The specific pieces of personal information we collected and/or disclose about you

The right to request deletion: You have the right to request that Sentry delete any of your personal information that we have collected or maintained, subject to certain exceptions. Once we receive and confirm your verifiable consumer request, we will delete (and direct our service providers and contractors to delete) your personal information from our records, unless an exception applies. We may no longer be able to provide certain products or services if you exercise your right to delete.

The right to request correction: You have the right to correct your personal information. Once we receive and confirm your verifiable request, we will use reasonable efforts to update your information, unless an exception applies. We will also ask any service providers or contractors to whom we have disclosed inaccurate information to correct it.

The right to opt-out of the sharing of personal information: You have the right to opt out of the sharing of personal ‎information that we have collected from you. You have several options to exercise this right. You may:

Exercising your rights: To exercise the rights described above, please submit a verifiable consumer request by calling us toll-free at 877-788-4012 or making an online request. You may make up to two requests in any 12-month period.‎ Making a verifiable consumer request does not require you to create an account with us.

Only you, or a person that you authorize to act on your behalf (an “Authorized Agent”), may make a verifiable consumer request related to your personal information. You may also make a verifiable consumer request on behalf of your minor child.

When you submit a request, you will need to provide us with:

  • Enough information to identify you (such as your first and last name, email address, physical address, and phone number)

  • A description of what right you want to exercise and the information to which your request relates

We will be unable to fulfill your request or provide you with personal information if we cannot verify your identity or authority to make the request and confirm the personal information relates to you. With few exceptions, we will only fulfill a request from your Authorized Agent if:

  • You grant the Authorized Agent written permission to make a request on your behalf;

  • You or the Authorized Agent provides us notice of that written permission; and

  • We are able to verify your identity in connection with that notice and the request
