Supporting collaboration, education, and quality of life

As we got to know the island community of Maui through our title sponsorship of the Sentry Tournament of Champions, we soon recognized similarities and shared values between Maui and our hometown of Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

Through our Connected Communities initiative, in 2022, we brought leaders from both communities together to build relationships and share ideas and best practices in the areas of community services, arts, education, agriculture, and land use.

Building better communities, together

2022 Connected Communities launch

Last year, a Maui contingent visited community centers, businesses, and schools in Stevens Point, Wis., and a Stevens Point delegation will do the same on Maui in 2023.

7 Connected Communities shared values

This initiative supports the sharing of best practices in the areas of youth, education, community service, agriculture and land use, and arts and culture.

1 Collaboration beer

Through the Connected Communities initiative, Stevens Point Brewery and Kohola Brewery on Maui joined forces to create a new beer: Hula Badger IPA. A portion of the proceeds went to Maui United Way and the United Way of Portage County.

Building bridges between universities

Through the Connected Communities initiative, university leaders in Stevens Point and Maui explored faculty and student exchanges in 2022, both virtually and in person. In this video, they share how this ongoing collaboration will benefit their institutions, students, and communities.
