Considered to have a superior ability to meet ongoing insurance obligations
In 2018, A.M. Best rated Sentry A+ (superior). It’s the 27th consecutive year that Sentry has received the rating. Less than 15 percent of U.S.-based insurance companies earn that rating—even fewer have achieved it for more than a quarter century.
“We are pleased to be recognized as an A+ company by A.M. Best for the 27th year in a row,” said Pete McPartland, Sentry chairman of the board, president, and CEO. “This reflects directly on generations of dedication by our current associates and retirees in managing Sentry in a financially prudent way and seizing opportunities to both grow the company and build customer loyalty.”
In support of its A+ rating, A.M. Best points to Sentry’s balance sheet strength, which achieves the rating authority’s highest ranking of “strongest” for risk-adjusted capitalization. A.M. Best also recognizes Sentry’s consistent underwriting and favorable levels of investment income, well-diversified business mix, strong management team, and Enterprise Risk Management processes that assist in meeting corporate profitability and preservation of capital goals.
A.M. Best, based in Oldwick, New Jersey, is considered the insurance industry’s leading rating authority.
